Summary
"Koombiyo" is a teledrama that follows the story of Jehan, a man with a complicated post. The series begins with CID officer Cyril Abeysekara investigating a bank robbery from six year ago, suspecting that Jehan and his associate Austin were involved. Despite being questioned, Jehan evades capture due to a lack of evidence. Along with his hacker friend , Jehan creates a software that predicts people's life ambitions, which they successfully sell with the help of Hiruni.
Jehan later executes a plan that leads to a strike among workers , resulting in the imprisonment of Priyanatha, a fellow worker and the tragic death of another employee. Feeling guilt for the consequences of his action , Jehan retreats to a remote village to work as a teacher. Priyantha, brainwashed by party officials becomes a prominent figure after being released from person. Despite Jehan's attempts to reconnect, Priyantha initially refuses to engage.
As the story unfolds, Austin is killed by his rival " Barrel Sunil" and Tiran flees to Malaysia. Jehan is eventually arrested by the CID . Meanwhile, Priyantha competes in local government elections and wins, learning that Jehan had always looked out for him. After two years Jehan is released from prison and Priyantha offers him refuge. However Jehan realizes that Priyantha has become somewhat corrupt, leading to tension between them. The drama intensifies when Tiran returns illegally to Sri Lanka, seeking Jehan's help to avenge Austin's death.

"Koombiyo" faced challenges in production and due to its unconventional storyline. Filming began in 2012 and ended 2015 , but many networks initially rejected it because of its protagonist a con man . ITN finally agreed to broadcast the series in 2017.
